چکیده

In metastasis research, it may sometimes be necessary to separate populations of tumor cells from a mixed cell population such as a tumor, peripheral blood, or bone marrow. In addition, the normal counterparts of populations of tumor cells can be separated to allow direct comparisons to be made (1).In recent years magnetic bead separation techniques have become increasingly popular for these purposes.

Quantitative detection of Legionella pneumophila in water samples by immunomagnetic purification and real-time PCR amplification of the dotA gene.

A new real-time PCR assay was developed and validated in combination with an immunomagnetic separation system for the quantitative determination of Legionella pneumophila in water samples. Primers that amplify simultaneously an 80-bp fragment of the dotA gene from L. pneumophila and a recombinant fragment including a specific sequence of the gyrB gene from Aeromonas hydrophila, added as an inte...

Elimination of small cell carcinoma of the lung from human bone marrow by monoclonal antibodies and immunomagnetic beads.

The majority of patients with small cell carcinoma of the lung (SCCL) have bone marrow involvement detected by monoclonal antibodies (mAb). High dose chemotherapy followed by autologous bone marrow transplantation may improve treatment results for patients with SCCL, but the bone marrow may need to be purged of contaminating tumor cells. This study investigates the reactivity of a panel of mAb ...

Efficiency and Impact of Positive and Negative Magnetic Separation on Monocyte Derived Dendritic Cell Generation

Background: The immunomagnetic separation technique is the basis of monocyte isolation and further generation of monocyte-derived dendritic cells. Objective: To compare the efficiency of monocyte positive and negative separation, concentration of beads, and their impact on generated dendritic cells. Methods: Monocytes were obtained using monoclonal antibody-coated magnetic beads followed the Fi...

Comparison of a reporter assay and immunomagnetic separation real-time reverse transcription-PCR for the detection of enteroviruses in seeded environmental water samples.

Two newly developed protocols for infective virus detection were compared to the plaque assay. An immunomagnetic separation procedure coupled with real-time reverse transcription-PCR of viral nucleic acids was developed to identify intact enteroviral particles, and a reporter cell system responding to viral replication based on fluorescent resonance energy transfer for detection of infectious e...

Isolation and characterization of synovial mesenchymal stem cells.

Synovial membrane and synovial fluid represent a good source of mesenchymal stem cells. They have been regarded as a promising therapeutic tool for musculoskeletal regeneration. Synovium-derived mesenchymal stem cells have higher expression of CD44 and better chondrogenic potential in vitro than mesenchymal stem cells from other tissues. In this study we compared mesenchymal stem cells from syn...
